Ideas, Comments, Requests, and Observations

This is the place to share ideas, comments, requests, and observations.

Give me your ideas for forum topics and I’ll add them to the list.

About 15 years ago Taveras Florida decided to bill themselves as Americas seaplane city. It has been a resounding success. The community was dwindling economically and experiencing a population contraction. The idea has been a resounding success. Smaller scale examples in the Lakeland area are Colorama musky Rama beef Arama and such things to generate interesting activity. I’ll bet members have some ideas for using the airport to even further benefit the Lakeland area.

Roger thank you for building this out. Seaplane Flying adds another dimension that many of our members would find rewarding and a whole Lotta fun. The Seaplane pilots association is the Vanguard of Seaplane Flying. See seaplanepilotsassociation.org

I am wondering if any of our committee members or members at large have communicated with the Wausau EAA Chapter about their youth educational programs. Perhaps a brief presentation could be made to our local school boards in order to make some aviation curriculum available to students.

C-GRXT Roger is the RV picture that of your friends from Canada?

The photos are random images I found. If you have any favorite pictures, send them to me and I’ll use those instead.

Good day all. Thanks for inviting me into your group. There are a couple of activities that may fall under the youth education programs. The FBO has engaged the Wausau School district and started the Aviation 101 program. We have since elected Jennifer Rausher to the board of directors for Learn Build Fly. Jennifer is the Head of Secondary Education or in short over all the Tech Ed programs for the Wausau Area School District. I’m sure we have willing individuals who would be willing to share their knowledge and experiences. Further to the above, Dave Conrad and other board members have shared an interest in duplicating our LBF success here in Wausau in other communities. There have been a number of chapters who have expressed an interest. This is just in the discussion stage now, If its to go anywhere one of us have to pick up the ball and move it down the field. I think the starting point is something like this where we can begin a dialog, gauge interest, develop a team, create an itinerary, set some goals and execute the plan. Like anything if we don’t get started nothing will happen.
